Island of the Burning Doomed Movie Review
Director Terence Fisher's atmospheric style worked for his Hammer Studio gothic horror films, but when it comes to this attempt at scifi, a little more punch was needed. Based on the John Lymington novel Night of the Big Heat, this story concerns an alien protoplasm that takes over a British island, and somehow causes a bizarre winter heatwave intense enough to burn most of the inhabitants to death. Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee (without whom this film would rate a solo boner) survive to do battle with the egg-like blobacious creatures who are desperate for any heat source. AKA: Island of the Burning Damned; Night of the Big Heat.
