Godzilla Raids Again Movie Review

Warner Bros. had a problem securing rights to Godzilla's name, and opted to release this theatrically using a monster pseudonym (“Gigantis”), doing some heavy editing while they're at it. In this first Godzilla sequel of the original series, a second Godzilla appears to cause trouble, while another monster – the spiny Angilas – also appears to threaten mankind. They battle to the death while trashing Osaka. Although the monster scenes are fun, with Godzilla facing off against another creature for the first time, too much of the story centers around a fishing industry troubled by the behemoths. The special effects fail to match the power of the original's. However, the climax shows a lot of imagination. The U.S. release in 1959 was directed by Hugo Grimaldi and produced by Paul Schreibman. AKA: Gigantis, the Fire Monster; Godzilla's Counter Attack.
