Hidden in a southern swamp, the evil Grimes (von Seyfferttz) runs a baby farm, where unwanted children are sent and used a slave labor. The eldest, nicknamed Mama Mollie (Pickford), tries to protect the others from Grimes's cruelty. They eventually plan their escape but must cross treacherous quicksand with Grimes in pursuit. Silent melodrama features a notable performance by Pickford.
