Village of the Giants Movie Review

“Hey, those are my ducks!” You can't blame Tommy Kirk for getting so excited. These web-footed behemoths shaking their tail-feathers on the dance floor have ingested size-enhancing “goop.” Beau Bridges and some bad teens looking for kicks steal the stuff, “zoom to supersize” (scream the ads) and take over the town, imposing curfew on the adults. Ronny Howard, a long way from Mayberry, costars as Genius, who invented the formula, with Johnny Crawford, son of “The Rifleman,” as one of the good teens who try to cut Bridges down to size. With music by the Beau Brummels, who were more believable as animated characters on The Flintstones. Based on H.G. Wells’ The Food of the Gods. Forget the smartass Mystery Science Theater 3000 treatment this received. It's a lot of fun on its own.
