The Valley of Gwangi Movie Review

The genesis of this idea – cowboys vs. dinosaurs – goes back to a 1942 unproduced project by Willis O'Brien, the man who created King Kong. But it took Ray Harryhausen's stop-motion effects to bring it finally to the screen. The climactic fight between an allosaurus and an elephant is some of his best work, and the whole film stands up well. If it lacks the magic and poetry of Jason and the Argonauts, it's still grand stuff for kids.
