Transatlantic Tunnel Movie Review
Semi-wishful 1930s prophecy, set after 1950, about engineer Richard Dix spearheading the construction of a giant undersea tunnel from England to America – that, among other things, will guarantee world peace. More ironic when you consider this was a remake of a 1933 German epic Der Tunnel (from a 1913 novel by Bernard Kellerman), which critics generally hold to be superior. The English film suffers distracting subplots about financial trickery and Dix's family problems that take the camera off the impressive futuristic designs and f/x. All versions of The Tunnel were banned among the Allies when WWII began. AKA: The Tunnel.
