Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country Movie Review

The original crew of the Enterprise exits in grand style in the sixth Star Trek film. Mirroring the fall of the iron curtain, a disaster in the Klingon Empire leads to negotiation of a peace treaty between the Klingons and the Federation. At the request of Spock, and over Kirk's reservations, the intrepid crew of the Enterprise are sent to escort the Klingon Chancellor to the talks. When the Klingon ship is attacked, Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise are accused of the crime. The search for the real perpetrators leads the crew on another galaxy-saving adventure. A great cast accompanies the regulars, including Christopher Plummer as a Klingon general fond of quoting Shakespeare (though you can't really appreciate Shakespeare until you have heard it in the original Klingon) and David Warner as the forward-looking Klingon Chancellor. Terrific special effects, typical Star Trek humor, and exciting action, make this one of the best Star Trek outings, and a most fitting conclusion to the series. Look for cameos from Christian Slater and Michael Dorn (Worf of Star Trek: The Next Generation). Nicholas Meyer also directed Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan and wrote the screenplay for Star Trek 4: The Voyage Home.
