Neo-Tokyo Movie Review

A collection of three short animated films from Japan. “The Order to Stop Construction” finds an anal-retentive bureaucrat sent to inspect an automated mining city in a remote jungle. The resident robots imprison him and show him how meaningless the policies that run his life are. “Labyrinth” follows a young girl and her pet cat into a strange wonderland, and “The Running Man” is a startling tale of a futuristic racer. The films are visually stunning, but “Order to Stop Construction,” with its wry satire, is probably the most readily accessible.
