Monolith Movie Review

A coed team of squabbling LAPD officers check out a senseless murder and learn that a secret government agency has an ancient, captured UFO in their vaults. Its troublesome occupant, a hostile alien life force, can possess any living creature, throw out heat rays, and generally behave like a cut-rate ripoff of Carpenter's The Thing. Low-grade alloy of buddy-cop comedy, stunt-crazy f/x infernos, and a hand-me-down sf premise.

1993 (R) 96m/C Bill Paxton, Lindsay Frost, John Hurt, Louis Gossett Jr.; D: John Eyres; W: Stephen Lister; C: Alan M. Trow; M: Frank Becker. VHS, LV MCA
