The Meteor Man Movie Review

Robert Townsend is a school teacher who becomes a reluctant superhero after being socked in the gut by a meteor. As “Meteor Man,” Townsend flies only four feet off the ground (he's afraid of heights) and wears costumes fashioned for him by his mother. An excellent, good-natured satire on superhero movies with a strong pro-community message. James Earl Jones has what may be the most unusual role of his career as Townsend's eccentric neighbor (who's constantly changing his hairstyle). Includes some fine cameos by Sinbad, Luther Vandross, Lawanda Page, and Bill Cosby as a wise street-person.

1993 (PG) 100m/C Robert Townsend, Robert Guillaume, Marla Gibbs, James Earl Jones, Frank Gorshin; Cameos: Bill Cosby, Sinbad, Luther Vandross, LaWanda Page; D: Robert Townsend; W: Robert Townsend; C: John A. Alonzo. VHS, LV MGM
