Mad Doctor of Blood Island Movie Review

The second of the Philippine-made Blood Island Trilogy. In this sequel to Brides of Blood, former teen idol John Ashley (Frankenstein's Daughter, Beach Party) returns to Blood Island and encounters an ugly chlorophyll monster created by Dr. Lorca (Ronald Remy), which survived for Beast of Blood. After Ashley's acting and recording career in the U.S. wound down, he came to the Philippines to star in the Blood Island pictures, then stayed to act in and produce a string of exploitation features. Costar Angelique Pettyjohn was a Playboy centerfold and acted in several features (Biohazard, Repo Man), as well as starring in porn under the name Heaven St. John. Audiences were given vials of “green blood” as a gimmick/souvenir/snack. AKA: Tomb of the Living Dead; Blood Doctor.

1969 110m/C John Ashley, Angelique Pettyjohn, Ronald Remy; D: Gerardo (Gerry) De Leon. VHS, Beta NO
