Logan's Run Movie Review

In the 23rd century, a hedonistic society exists in a huge bubble and people are only allowed to live to the age of 30, at which point they are expected to participate in ritual public suicide. Michael York plays a “Sandman,” a sort of cop assigned to track down and assassinate “Runners” – those that try to escape and live past 30. The central government sends him on a mission to track down a rumored Runner enclave beyond the city, and turn him into a Runner himself to do so. Intriguing concepts and great futuristic sets prevail here, but the plot tends to wander all over the place. The special effects, thought impressive at the time, were made instantly obsolete with the release of Star Wars the following year. Roscoe Lee Browne provides the voice of a rather clumsy looking robot named Box, while Peter Ustinov shows up late in the game as the oldest man in the world. Based on the novel by William Nolan and George Clayton Johnson.
