Kurt Vonnegut's Harrison Bergeron Movie Review

In the year 2053 the American government has gone to absurd lengths to ensure equality. Mediocrity is championed and everyone is forced to wear metallic headbands that stifle intellect through electronic impulses. All of which is too bad for Harrison Bergeron (Sean Astin), a smart young man being punished for his intelligence. A secret underground elite offers Harrison the chance to think freely, but naturally this power comes with a price. An adaptation of Kurt Vonnegut's 1961 short story, originally made for cable TV. Much of Vonnegut's dry humor is lost here, but the excellent cast makes it worth watching. AKA: Harrison Bergeron.
