King Kong Movie Review

The original beauty and the beast film classic tells the story of Kong, a giant ape captured on Skull Island (a lost world where dinosaurs still thrive) and brought to New York as a Broadway attraction. Kong falls for Fay Wray, escapes from his captors, and rampages through the city, ending up on top of the newly built Empire State Building. Moody Max Steiner score adds color, and Willis O'Brien's stop-motion animation and other special effects still hold up well. Available in a muddy colorized version. The laserdisc, produced from a superior negative, features extensive liner notes and running commentary by film historian Ronald Haver.
