Jason and the Argonauts Movie Review

Many of Ray Harryhausen's fans consider this to be his finest moment. His stop-motion special effects are the real stars in the mythological tale of Jason, son of King of Thessaly, who sails on the Argo to the land of Colchis, where the Golden Fleece is guarded by a seven-headed hydra. The best moments are the flying harpies, the bronze giant Talos, and the sword-wielding skeleton warriors. The script is one of the most elegant ever written for a fantasy, and the acting is equally good. The Criterion laserdisc is a superbly remastered transfer. It also includes supplemental material. Recommended for all ages.
