Invaders from Mars Movie Review

Adequate but pointless remake of Menzies’ 1953 semi-classic about a body-snatching Martian invasion perceived only by one young boy and a sympathetic school nurse (played by mother and son Karen Black and Hunter Carson). Jimmy Hunt, child star of the first flick, cameos here as an adult cop, and even the fishbowl-headed 1953 Martian leader prop can be glimpsed in the background of his big scene. Otherwise Stan Winston's colorful creature f/x are the main attractions.

1986 (PG) 102m/C Hunter Carson, Karen Black, Louise Fletcher, Laraine Newman, Timothy Bottoms, Bud Cort, James Karen; Cameos: Jimmy Hunt; D: Tobe Hooper; W: Dan O'Bannon, Don Jakoby; C: Daniel Pearl; M: Christopher Young. VHS, Beta, LV MED, IME
