Idaho Transfer Movie Review

Director Peter Fonda's sober-sided cautionary tale is about time travel, government repression, and ecological disaster. It was made on a minuscule budget with modest effects and a mostly non-professional cast. Before Fonda arrives at a leaden downbeat ending, he presents the future as a post-apocalyptic camping trip taken by obnoxious teens to Idaho in the year 2044. (By the way, the last words of the film, “Esto Perpetua,” are the state motto of Idaho: “May she endure forever.”) Keith Carradine's first screen appearance. AKA: Deranged.

1973 (PG) 90m/C Keith Carradine, Kelley Bohanan; D: Peter Fonda. VHS, Beta MPI, FCT
