Godzilla Vs. Megalon Movie Review

Godzilla is once again a good guy in this ‘70s outing, considered by many to be one of the worst in the series. This time, the villainous “Seatopians” unleash two giant monsters to conquer the world: Megalon, a giant cockroach with drills for arms, and Gigan, a flying metal creature with a buzz-saw in its stomach. Fortunately, cyborg hero Jet Jaguar (sort of a low-rent Ultraman) is on hand to slug it out side by side with Tokyo's ultimate defender. Oh yes, and there's also an annoying little boy to round things out. Filled with clumsily used stock footage and laughable dialogue, this film was obviously aimed at children. A low mark in monster history. Adding insult to injury, NBC cut out half the footage and aired it in 1977 with campy segments hosted by John Belushi in a shoddy Godzilla costume. AKA: Gojira Tai Megalon.
