Forbidden Zone Movie Review

Members of a strange family journey to an underground sixth dimension kingdom ruled by the midget, King Fausto (Herve Villechaize), and inhabited by dancing frogs, bikini-clad tootsies, robot boxers, and degraded beings of all kinds. A very odd black-and-white concoction with many musical numbers, some of which are lip-synched to old records, a la Pennies from Heaven. Sets were designed to look like Max Fleischer cartoons. Original music by Oingo Boingo, and directed by Richard Elfman, brother of founding member Danny Elfman. Richard would eventually go on to direct Shrunken Heads, which is nearly as bizarre as this one. Danny, who also plays the Devil, would compose the soundtracks for Batman, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Edward Scissorhands, and many others.
