The Beast from Fathoms (20,000) Movie Review

One of the first prehistoric-monster-loosed-by-radiation movie of the ‘50s is still one of the best. When atomic testing defrosts a giant dinosaur in the Arctic, the hungry monster (the fictional “rhedosaurus”) proceeds onwards to its former breeding grounds, now New York City. Special effects genius Ray Harryhausen's creature isn't as detailed as some of his later work, but the film is still suspenseful, well constructed, and tons of fun to watch. Based loosely on the Ray Bradbury story “The Foghorn.”
