Attack of the Hiller Tomatoes Movie Review

“I know I'm going to miss her/A tomato ate my sister.” This overripe low-budget spoof of low-budget horror and science-fiction films is a staple of worst film festivals, but it is hardly as entertaining as the movies it is supposedly satirizing. Some nice bits though, including the ominous prologue that references Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds, a ‘50s style confrontation between the rampaging tomatoes and the Army, and an unfortunate remark by an incognito human who has infiltrated the tomato forces: “Anybody have some ketchup?” Now available on video in a so-called “director's cut.” Inexplicably followed by three direct-to-video sequels.
