Widowed Cesira (Loren) and her 13-year-old daughter Rosetta (Brown) travel war-torn Italy during WWII and must survive lack of food, bombings, and brutal soldiers. Tragic, moving, well-directed. Loren received well-deserved Oscar. Based on the novel by Alberto Moravia. In Italian with English subtitles or dubbed.
