The vintage horror-fest based on H. G. Wells' novella about scientist Jack Griffin (Rains) whose formula for invisibility slowly drives him insane. His mind definitely wandering, Jack plans to use his recipe to rule the world. Rains' first role; though his body doesn't appear until the final scene, his voice characterization is magnificent. The visual detail is excellent, setting standards that are imitated because they are difficult to surpass; with special effects by John P. Fulton and John Mescall.
