Marietta (Lollobrigida) is a poor girl in a Sicilian fishing village who's in love with Enrico (Mastroianni), an equally impoverished engineer. But she comes up with a unique way to get money for her dowry even as she's pursued by every male in town. Meanwhile, local mobster Brigante (Montand) wants to make sure than his son Francisco (Mattioli) doesn't get too involved with the unsuitable Lucrezia (Mercouri). Italian with subtitles.
