An MGM classic, the sentimental rendering of the James Hilton novel about shy Latin professor Charles Chipping (Donat), who teaches in an English public school, marrying the vivacious Katherine (Garson) only to tragically lose her. He spends the rest of his life devoting himself to his students and becoming a school legend. Multi award-winning soaper featuring Garson's first screen appearance, which was Oscar nominated. Remade in 1969 as a fairly awful musical starring Peter O'Toole.
