Jesse James Movie Review 1939

One of director King's best efforts is this Hollywood biography of the notorious outlaw. 24-year-old Power showed he was more than just his good looks in the title role but Fonda truly became a star in the role of brother Frank James. Screenwriter Johnson also focused more on the legend than the reality of the outlaw's career in post-Civil War Missouri.
