Social-climbing Mrs. Jordan (Burke) and her husband Oliver (Lionel Barrymore) throw a dinner party for various members of the New York elite. During the course of the evening, all of the guests reveal too much. Special performances all around, especially John Barrymore in a parody of his drunken career, Dressler as a grande dame sliding down the social ladder, and Harlow as a gold-digging hussy. Superb comedic direction by Cukor. Adapted from the play by Edna Ferber and George Kaufman.
