Outstanding story of a black family trying to make a better life for themselves in an all-white neighborhood in Chicago. The characters are played realistically and make for a moving story. Each person struggles with doing what he must while still maintaining his dignity and sense of self. Based on the 1959 Broadway play by Hansberry, who also wrote the screenplay. Remade for TV in 1989 with Danny Glover.
