A psychological creepfest with a chilling climax, based on the novel by Daphne Du Maurier. John (Sutherland) and Laura (Christie ) Baxter travel to a dank, off-season Venice in an attempt to put the drowning death of their young daughter behind them. But while working on a church restoration, John begins to have psychic visions which are encouraged by a pair of strange sisters (Matania, Mason). There's a steamy love scene between Sutherland and Christie that became the object of much gossip.
