When newly acquired quarterback Dan Pastorini was lost for the 1980 season with an injury, veteran Jim Plunkett calmly stepped in and made Raider fans forget the departed Ken Stabler. Plunkett's steadiness led the well-balanced Raiders to the Super Bowl championship, amidst owner Al Davis' battle with Oakland fans and commissioner Pete Rozelle, over Davis' attempt to move his team to Los Angeles.
