Colorful production of Lerner and Loewe's musical version of "Pygmalion," about ill-mannered cockney Eliza (Hepburn) who is plucked from her job as a flower girl by Professor Henry Higgins (Harrison). Higgins makes a bet with a colleague that he can turn this rough diamond into a "lady." Winner of eight Academy Awards. Hepburn's singing voice is dubbed by Marni Nixon, who was also responsible for the singing in "The King and I" and "West Side Story"; the dubbing may have undermined Hepburn's chance at an Oscar nomination. Typecasting role for Harrison as the crusty, egocentric Higgins. A timeless classic.
