An examiner explains that the Brazelton Scale demonstrates three infant capabilities: the ability to start a response to disturbing events; the ability to alert and orient; and the ability to control states of arousal. The examiner then subjects different infants to various stimuli to contrast performance levels and demark the range of response in normal infants. Part of the "Brazelton Neonatal Assessment Scale" series.
