Toast Movie Review 1977

"Toast" provides an overview of our complex food production system. It takes the end product, toast, and traces all the component processes and activities necessary to produce it. For example: oil is needed to make fertilizer which in turn nurtures wheat, which is made into flour, then bread, and ultimately toast. Also, this program illustrates the vital concept of net energy profit, which is that remaining after the costs of getting and concentrating that energy are subtracted.
