One of the all-time great movie musicals--an affectionate spoof of the turmoil that afflicted the motion picture industry in the late 1920s during the changeover from silent films to sound. Don Lockwood (Kelly) and Lina Lamont (Hagen) are a popular romantic silent screen team when sound comes along. To continue, temperatmental Lina must have her terrible voice dubbed by aspiring actress Kathy Selden (Reynolds), whom Don falls for. O'Connor's an acrobatic marvel as Don's best pal, Cosmo Brown, and of course there's Kelly's classic much-copied title dance. Later a Broadway musical.
