James Dean's most memorable screen appearance. In the second of his three films (following "East of Eden"), he plays troubled teen Jim Stark, who's alienated from both his parents and peers. He befriends outcasts Judy (Wood) and Plato (Mineo) in a police station and together they find a common ground. Many memorable scenes, including the "chickie run" between Jim and black leather-jacketed Buzz (Allen). Superb young stars carry this in-the-gut story of adolescence. All three leads met with real-life tragic ends.
