Gripping and powerful film based on the true story of Billy Hayes (Davis), a young American busted in Turkey wfor trying to smuggle hashish. He is sentenced to a brutal and nightmarish prison for life as an example to other potential smugglers. After enduring tremendous mental and physical torture, Billy seeks the "Midnight Express," his chance at escape. Not always easy to watch, but the overall effect is riveting and unforgettable. Adapted from the book by Hayes and William Hoffer.
