Gillian Holroyd (Novak) is a beautiful modern-day witch (from a family of witches) who has made up her mind to refrain from using her powers. That is until Sheperd Henderson (Stewart) moves into her building and she decides to enchant him with a love spell. But spells have a way of backfiring on those who cast them. Lanchester is romantic Aunt Queenie and Lemmon is a standout as Gillian's jazz-loving, bongo-playing brother, Nicky.
