Out of the Past Movie Review 1947

A private detective gets caught in a complex web of love, murder, and money in this film noir classic. The plot is torturous but clear thanks to fine directing. Mitchum became an overnight star after this film, which was overlooked but now considered one of the best in its genre. Based on Geoffrey Homes's novel "Build My Gallows High." Remade in 1984 as "Against All Odds."
