Jim Blandings (Grant), wife Muriel (Loy), and their two daughters must give up their Manhattan apartment for new digs. City boy Jim wants to become a suburbanite and the Blandings decide to build their dream house--with many complications. Timely at its release because of the post-WWII housing shortage and building boom, this classic comedy is still a humorous treat with Grant at his funniest. Loy and Douglas provide strong backup. A must for all homeowners. Based on the novel by Eric Hodgins.
