A head wound gives Frank Cavanaugh (Kilmer) a case of amnesia but he can't shake ominous flashbacks of a presidential assassination attempt--especially when he hears the president is about to visit. But trying to convince a local New Mexico sheriff (Shepard) of the imminent danger isn't so easy since he's distracted by his reelection bid. And Frank can't be sure that his fiancee Chloe (Campbell) is really who she claims to be. Subplots are overdone and memory loss is nothing new. It works well enough, though. Faye Dunaway gets a slick bit part.
