In the final season, Mulder has gone missing and Scully decides to return to teaching at Quantico, so Doggett partners with Reyes, although they keep relying on Scully's expertise; Scully's son William is kidnapped and the Lone Gunmen help out--with William in constant danger, Scully decides to send him away; when Mulder kills a super-soldier, he's accused of murder and tried in military court; when Mulder is sentenced to death, Doggett helps break him out and Mulder and Scully head to New Mexico for answers; the duo eventually find themselves in a Roswell motel reflecting on their lives because of the X-Files. 19 episodes.
