Alfieri adapted his play, which was inspired by Anton Chekhov's "The Three Sisters." In this contemporary update, set in a Manhattan college faculty lounge, sisters Olga (Masterson), Marsha (Bello), and Irene (Christensen) gather with their brother Andrew (Nivola) and various lovers and colleagues, most of whom are an insufferable talky bunch. Irene's birthday seems to be just the right time to bring up family secrets and play psychological roulette. Unlike Chekov, this is overwrought yet boring.
