This too-twisty thriller owes a lot to "Pulp Fiction" and "The Usual Suspects," although it doesn't come close to their league. What it does have is the wicked gravitas of Freeman and Kingsley as rival New York mobsters (known respectively as "The Boss" and "The Rabbi") who both mistake sweet-faced Slevin (Hartnett) for his missing friend Nick, who owes big money to both men. The Boss will forgive the debt if Slevin will kill someone for him, while the Rabbi just wants the cash. Meanwhile, sexy neighbor Lindsey (Liu), who's a coroner, is romancing the hunk and trying to help him avoid certain death--maybe at the hands of hitman Mr. Goodkat (Willis). Except, nothing is really as it appears to be.
