Full-bodied documentary paying tribute to the life and times of Melvin Van Peebles, the famed black filmmaker most noted for 1971's "Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song." Van Peebles was also an Air Force navigator, cable car operator, novelist in two languages, composer, recording artist, and floor trader at the American Stock Exchange. Title comes from an essay written by Van Peebles.
