Taraneh works part-time at a photo shop to support her ailing grandmother, brings her imprisoned father cigarettes and magazines, even wins a book bag in school for "skill at managing her life." She's a model Iranian citizen, and she's only 15. However, her persistent neighbor fights for her attention and, then, hand in marriage. Taraneh eventually falls for him and winds up pregnant (at which point that book bag probably should be revoked). Socially stigmatized, she battles both families for marriage and parental rights. A quiet observation of innocence deflated.
