Tsotsi Movie Review 2005

Young Tsotsi and his gang of urban thugs pillage their shantytown-turf outside Johannesburg, South Africa. After stealing a BMW from a wealthy black woman, Tsotsi discovers he's also nabbed her infant son in the backseat. The child's affect on this criminal becomes the centerpiece and eventual redemption behind the story. Unpredictable, violent, and compassionate. Director Gavin Hood constructs a world foreign to most Western audiences, in every sense of the word.
