It's October 25, 1986, and Nicky (Keaton) has quite the dilemma--should he attend his play's opening night or watch his beloved Bosox battle the New York Mets in the soon-o-be-legendary game six of the World Series? With his crumbling marriage (having a mistress doesn't help), distant daughter, stalled career, and a cutthroat theater critic set to make or break his new work, he feels just as wrapped in failure as his once-cursed baseball team. Keaton cleanly fields his distressed-man act but the story flubs the grounder.
