As an Asian video store manager in the tough "Little Saigon" suburb of Sydney, Australia, Tracy Heart (Blanchett) has bigger dreams of starting her own business, although the recovering junkie is having trouble securing the funds--a fact she often fibs about in conversation. Her protective mother Janelle (Hazlehurst) labors to keep her daughter away from the bad influences that surround her, including the return of her old boyfriend and her estranged stepfather Lionel (Weaving), a user who Janelle accuses of influencing Tracy's addiction. Vivid storyline focuses on living life as a post-addict. Blanchett deftly delivers (as usual).
