Rookie writers/directors Barison and Ross document their thought-provoking five-year trek up the 2,000-mile-long Danube River (ancient Greek name "The Ister") from its mouth in the Black Sea to its origin in Germany's Black Forest. Along the way, the Australian philosophy students visit with prominent European philosophers who discuss the 1942 lecture of German existentialist Martin Heidegger (their inspiration and author of "Time and Being") while capturing such images as an ancient Greek city, war-torn Serbian towns, and the Mauthausen-Gusen concentration camp.
