A Scanner Darkly Movie Review 2006

Linklater sticks with his "Waking Life" format by shooting live-action and then overlaying it with an animation process called interpolated rotoscoping. Since this sci-fi drama is adapted from the 1977 novel by Philip K. Dick, it will probably heighten that eerie feel that Dick's work often possesses. Orange County undercover cop Bob Arctor's (Reeves) latest assignment heightens his paranoia and has him developing a split personality, thanks to his addiction to a drug called Substance D.
